Onion Seeds - Red Wethersfield

 Allium cepa HEIRLOOM. This heirloom onion has rich history dating back to the 1700’s and is also known as Dark Red Beauty. Deep red, slightly flattened, and a fair keeper. It really shines as a fresh eating onion, perfect for salads.  Long Day. Start seeds indoors eight to ten weeks before your last frost. Soil temperatures between 70 and 75° F will help with germination. They are ready to transplant when they reach six inches in height. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Water well to ensure good germination. Once germinated, onions will need at least an inch of water per week. Pay close attention to the days to harvest information. Biennial for seed.
