Carrot Seeds - Shin Kuroda
Daucus carota Described as "stump-rooted" for their short but thick roots, this carrot is nonetheless a tender, sweet, deeply orange-colored delight. Performs well in heavier soils, sizes up early, easy to pull out of the ground with their strong tops, and stores well. It is also known for better heat tolerance than most carrots, making it a good choice for late spring plantings. “Shin” means new, and “Kuroda” is the name for a Chantenay-type carrot in this variety’s native Japan, where these carrots enjoy great popularity. Shin Kuroda carrots can be direct seeded in the garden as soon as the soil is workable in spring, and in successions throughout the cool seasons. They prefer full sun and loose, well-draining soil, but can tolerate a little shade and a little heavier soil. 1 gram packet contains a minimum of 350 seeds.
