2017 Lamy-Caillat Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanee 750ml
Our Notes: Meticulous is the watchword for this 1.2 Ha micro-estate as Sebastien Caillat and Florence Lamy obsess over every detail, from grape to glass. Focused solely on Chassagne, the pair craft wines of great precision; and built for the long haul; with over two years of elevage in oak and steel. Detailed and electric, their 1400 bottle production is emblematic of their style and ethos and is part of why the Wine Advocate declared: 'Domaine Lamy-Caillat is the most exciting producer of white Burgundy that you've never heard of.' Reviews: 95 points Wine Advocate, "...is brilliant, offering up a complex bouquet of mandarin, ripe pears and peaches mingled with almond paste, fresh pastry and nutmeg. Full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's multidimensional and complete, with a layered core, considerable concentration and a long, chalky finish. This is a touch more dramatic and extrovert than this year's Caillerets, but the two wines are of very similar ultimate quality. (WK)" 95
