Beautiful Hamsa, also known as the Hand of Fatima, the Hand of Miriam (named for Moses and Aaron's sister), the Hand of Fortune, and the Hand of the Goddess. Lightly colored with chalk, finished with a high gloss epoxy. The Hamsa (also spelled Hamesh, Chamsa, Khamsa) is an ancient Middle Eastern amulet symbolizing the Hand of God. In all faiths it is a protective sign. It brings it's owner happiness, luck, health, and good fortune. There are two main styles of a Hamsa hand: the most popular, like this one, is the stylized Hamsa hand with two symmetrical thumbs. There are also Hamsa hands that are not symmetrical and shaped like actual hands. All my work is hand made with TLC on basswood or birch. Each piece can be finished with epoxy for a high-gloss shine, or a tinted oil for a deeper, richer effect. Or it can be left natural. I can even add colour if you'd like!
