Not only will it play CD's, but it will also upsample all of your CD's using McIntosh exclusive built-in "Digital Re-Master Processing". Plus many high resolution audio recordings were only released on DVD-Audio which this unit will play. DVD-A / DVD-Audio was the competing format that lost to SACD in the disc-based Hi-Res Audio format wars. Featuring balanced XLR analog outputs as well as optical and coaxial digital outputs in case you'd like to provide your own outboard DAC. While the video section in this McIntosh is a bit outdated it's still an *excellent* McIntosh CD player.  Tested and working just like it should in our lab and listening area.  Condition is super clean with only the slightest signs of use.
