Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon Hill Napa Valley 2021

Philip Togni got his start in the wine industry with the illustrious Bordeaux estate Chateau Lascombes after earning his winemaking degree from the University of Bordeaux. There, he studied under the famed enologist Émile Peynaud who is said to be the godfather of modern winemaking-- Peynaud served to modernize Bordeaux and improve standards of winemaking worldwide.  Philip, alongside his wife Birgitta, moved to Napa to practice his learnings. He worked at Mayacamas, Inglebook, Cuvaison, and Chappellet before endeavoring to form his own project. It was at Chappellet that he became a permanent fixture of Napa Valley with is 1969 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. By 1975, Birgitta and Philip had saved enough to start their own project, and to the surprise of many, decided to plant on the eastern slopes of the Mayacamas Range, Spring Mountain.
