This is an original Japanese late Edo era printed in 1853 guaranteed original Ukiyo-e (woodblock print) triptych by the Japanese artist Toyokuni III, aka Kunisada Tsunoda (1786 – 1865) of the Utagawa school. This is titled Genji Visting the Rokujou Mansion" (Rokujou was mistress), or Tousei Genji Rokujo-gayoi. The censor marks indicate that this was printed in the 3rd month of 1856. From the Murasaki Shikibu's 11th century literary masterpiece Tales of Genji, (Genji Monogatari - 源氏物語). This is a standard Oban size and each of the three prints measures roughly 10" wide by 14 1/2" tall (25 x 37 cm). The print will be loosely rolled for shipping. With the exception of minor tears at the edges and some foxing this print remains in very good condition.
