Juniperus chinensis 'Spartan' ~ Monrovia® Spartan Chinese Juniper

Monrovia® Spartan Chinese Juniper (Juniperus chinensis 'Spartan') is not a variety of Chinese Juniper. The Spartan Juniper is actually a cultivar of the Juniperus virginiana species, commonly known as Eastern Red Cedar. The Spartan Juniper is a popular evergreen shrub with a tall, narrow, and columnar growth habit. It typically reaches a height of 15 to 20 feet (4.5 to 6 meters) with a spread of only 3 to 5 feet (0.9 to 1.5 meters). Its dense, dark green foliage provides year-round interest and makes it an excellent choice for privacy screens, windbreaks, or as a vertical accent in the landscape. This juniper variety is known for its tolerance to a wide range of soil conditions, including clay and sandy soils. It is also drought-tolerant once established and can withstand harsh weather conditions.
