However, certain cities in South Dakota including Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Aberdeen have varying fire and building code requirements regarding emergency fixtures. That is why we have developed the South Dakota self luminous exit sign, applicable for buildings across the state. The SL-SD uses tritium gas contained in phosphor-coated tubes to generate a constant internal illumination. Unlike signs with emergency batteries, the South Dakota self luminous exit signs will operate far longer than the 90 minute UL minimum during a prolonged power failure.
