Description : As Field Grade Officers, USAF Colonels wear the Full-size pin-on metal rank insignia on the left side (viewer’s right) of a Flight Cap featuring a blue and silver braid along the overlapping edge. Oriented so the eagle is facing forward and the insignia is roughly centered vertically between the braid and the bottom of the cap, the insignia is placed so that its foremost edge is 1-1/2 inches from the front crease of the cap.
