At center is a train popping out of the South entrance just beyond the bridge behind it. This mile-long train tunnel under Seattle was built by the Great Northern Railroad in 1905. Over a hundred years later, a highway tunnel was completed that crossed under the train tunnel to replace an aging, noisy bridge along the waterfront.
