This opal was mined in the Andamooka opal fields in southern Australia.  This opal has dark black matrix that is embedded with firey opalescence throughout the stone.  The natural black opal is topped with a piece of clear quartz, which gives the stone a glossy sheen, and exaggerates the opal's colors and fire.  The opal is colorful even in dim light, but outrageously vibrant and full of fire in sunlight or bright indoor light.  The opal flashes with cherry red, purple, lime, blue and yellow pinfire.  The opal is a slightly domed heart shape, and is secure in a hand-crafted bezel setting.  The opal is backed in gold.  The pendant has an articulated bail to accommodate your chain.
