Bergstrom Le Pre Du Col 2020, Ribbon Ridge, Willamette Valley

A magnificent dark ruby color. Soaring from the glass are deep, complex aromas of loamy forest floor, dried mushrooms, cigar box, black tea, and a fresh fruit medley of blackberries and blueberries. Joining the mix is a panoply of sweet baking spices.  On the palate, there is a wonderful core of sweet fruits, spices, and umami-tinged savory flavors. Knitting it all together is a seducingly silky texture and a thrilling natural acidity that ensures the wine finishes juicy and succulent. As the flavors lingered on my tongue, I proclaimed this wine to be one of the great triumphs of the vintage.
