Honeycomb Bee Pendant, Sterling Silver
I've lovingly pressed a sheet of thick sterling silver into a bee impression die. That sounds easy right? Well, no...not a fast process. I do have a hydraulic press and this still requires many pressings, annealing (applying my torch to make the metal soft and pliable again), sawing out and repeating the pressing, annealing, sawing. Once I finally have my sweet bee shaped, I soldered it to a 1 inch sterling disc that is honeycomb patterned. I created a unique bail that I've "pinned" with sterling wire, allowing it to swing freely and to accept different sizes or materials of chain. I've shown this with a wonderful, earthy beaded jasper necklace, which is sold separately. The pendant measures 1.33 inches from the top of the bail to the bottom.
