Tenganan Basket Tray
Intricate yet with an elegantly simple weave, the woven Tenganan Basket Tray makes a stunning and functional accent piece. This basket tray can be styled on your coffee table or ottoman with your favorite candle, matchbook and accessories, set on a bedside table as a catch all, or used to organize your bathroom counter or vanity. A serious multi-tasker, it can also be used for entertaining as a serving tray. Handwoven in the village of Tenganan, Bali, this basket tray is crafted from natural Ata reed, a fast-growing vine known for its strength and durability. The process begins by carefully splitting the reed into fine strands, which are then intricately woven by skilled artisans—a single piece can take up to a month to complete. Once woven, each basket is boiled and sun-dried for several days before being gently smoked over coconut husks. This final step strengthens the fibers, enhances their warm, golden hue, and adds a subtle, earthy scent. The result is a beautifully crafted piece
