The management of an individual or group suffering from a serious illness or injury, especially in areas where the medical infrastructure is weak, and where movement to appropriate treatment is difficult, can quickly lead to a problem becoming a crisis. The ability to identify a health risk and react to it quickly and effectively may be the difference between life and death. Often the response to a serious illness requires a multi-stakeholder solution in order to be effective, protecting the individual as well as the organization.
