The role of leading departmental, locational or activity focused resiliency measures often rests with a focal point. Within locations or activities this role is often titled the Security Focal Point [or SFP], while in departments or for activities it may be called the Business Continuity Representative [or BCR]. Regardless of the title, the role of the focal point is often very similar, in that those appointed to this function are responsible for coordinating risk management, safety and security, or resiliency and business continuity requirements within a defined remit. Focal points will also articulate risk and resiliency needs to higher level management, track and report on identified threats and vulnerabilities, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure the system is monitored and maintained.
