This is an extremely well-preserved pine cone from the Early Oligocene in Germany. The pine cone is in a sandstone nodule, which has been cleaned down to expose the cone in 3 dimensions. The pine cone is 2.4 inches long and 0.75 inches wide. The entire nodule with the cone, measures 3.35 by 3.2 by 2.2 inches. There are several needles (leaves) in the matrix.
