This Crotalocephalus gibbus (also known as Cotalocelaphina) has been separated from the matrix so as to appear it is 'flying' or 'floating". The trilobite is well-preserved with an intact hypostome and small holochroal eyes. The trilobite is approx. 4 inches long (if flattened) and 1.45 inches wide. Matrix and trilobite measure 3.1 inches long, 3.88 inches wide and 3.2inches high. There is a repair through some of the pygidial spines. The trilobite is securely screwed into a plastic base of a container that fits over the entire fossil. The screw is easily removed, but it is the best and safest way to transport the fossil.
