Buffalo Dancer Lawrence Archuleta Native American Navajo Sterling Silver Turquoise Concho Leather Belt
Dating to the 1970s, may I offer this Sterling Silver (hallmarked) and turquoise concho belt. Set on a 50" approx. 3/4" wide leather belt, the ovals number 8 and measure 3" x 2-1/4" each. The buckle section measures 3-1/8" x 2-5/16". The silver sections feature lovely turquoise matrix cabs both oval and round in shape. The back bars to the conchos are brass colored and are probably made of that metal. While some of the conchos move freely along the belt, others need a little push. The ovals are all covered at the back in leather - actually, the leather appears glued to the silver; it certainly makes for a protective surface. Weight of the belt is 559 grams. I'd say that everything on the belt needs a light clean or polish - this piece hasn't been touched or used in years. The back of the buckle has a bit of black grease pencil marking as well as incised marks; they are partial and the best I can do is BUFF_____ NCER along with a shadow image at the top (okay, looks like a bison or buff
