Painted in 1960, Cenedella depicts a gargantuan 'baby,' malformed and faceless, wearing a diaper while sitting in a demolished crib surrounded by debris of what was once a modern household. Strung from its neck is a dog tag, bent beyond legibility. The painting itself was commenting on children being born into a M.A.D. (Mutually Assured Destruction) era at the start of the Cold War between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. Ironically, this happened to be the era coinciding with the generation known as the Baby Boomers.
