The Time Machine (1960) is a science fiction film directed by George Pal, based on H.G. Wells' 1895 novella. The story follows George (Rod Taylor), a Victorian-era inventor who constructs a machine that propels him into the distant future. Traveling through time, he witnesses significant events, including world wars and societal changes, before arriving in the year 802,701. There, he encounters the Eloi, a peaceful surface-dwelling race, and the Morlocks, their sinister subterranean counterparts. The film explores themes of evolution, class disparity, and the consequences of technological advancement. It won the Academy Award for Best Special Effects in 1961.
