At an annual company meeting in 1972, Polaroid founder Edwin H. Land pulled an SX-70 camera from his jacket pocket and introduced the world to the future of instant photography. Ten years later Polaroid took the best aspects of that camera, added in some key features and then converted it to use their 600 film, creating what is widely regarded as one of the finest instant cameras ever made. The SLR 690’s collapsible body, exposure adjustment options, Sonar AutoFocus system and built-in flash give it a perfect blend of form and precision still highly sought by photographers today.
