This album features a significant comeback for Dutch progressive rock band Kayak, marking their return after a hiatus since 1982. Released in 2000, "Close to the Fire" sees the band reuniting with nearly the same lineup as their 1975 album "Royal Bed Bouncer," with the exception of guitarist Johan Slager, who was replaced by Rob Winter.
