Dell PowerConnect 2848 Network Switch Description: The Dell PowerConnect 2848 is an affordable network switch for small business networks. The PowerConnect 2848 provides 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports of auto sensing speed (10/100/1,000 Mbps). An additional four SFP fiber combo ports are built into the switch that can make ports 45 through 48 either SFP fiber or Ethernet ports. The SFP ports on a Dell PowerConnect 2848 can accept 1000BASE-SX or 1000BASE-LX fiber Gigabit transceivers. The Dell PowerConnect 2848 supports a switch fabric capacity of up to 96 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 71.4 Mpps. Up to 8,000 MAC addresses can be stored in the Dell 2848 and 2 Mb of packet buffer memory is built into the switch. The PowerConnect 2848 supports VLAN tagging, up to 64 port-based VLANs at once.
