Dell PowerConnect 2824 Network Switch Description: The Dell PowerConnect 2824 is an affordable network switch for small business networks. The PowerConnect 2824 provides 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports of auto sensing speed (10/100/1,000 Mbps). An additional two SFP fiber combo ports are built into the switch that can make ports 23 and 24 either SFP fiber or Ethernet ports. The SFP ports on a Dell PowerConnect 2824 can accept 1000BASE-SX or 1000BASE-LX fiber Gigabit transceivers. The Dell PowerConnect 2824 supports a switch fabric capacity of up to 48 Gbps and a forwarding rate of 23.7 Mpps. Up to 8,000 MAC addresses can be stored in the Dell 2824 and 2 Mb of packet buffer memory is built into the switch. The PowerConnect 2824 supports VLAN tagging, up to 64 port-based VLANs at once.
