Red Cardinal Ornament

This handmade red cardinal ornament was created by Choctaw artist Carolyn Bernard Young. The cardinal totem is known to represent Boldness, Confidence, Creativity. It is also believed to be a messenger bringing news or a warning. Hand-cut, carved ornament made of durable white stoneware. Covered with black slip, then carved. Wax is applied before the details are carved, then red slip added. Fired to 2167 degrees, this little ornament is very durable. A length of red hemp makes it easy to hang on the tree or display elsewhere in your home.
