Encaustic - Butterfly Clamp

Originally shown in tandem with the body of work, Indigenous Autos in 2011 at Guardino's Gallery. This collection was made using all Chevy car parts that were found and foraged from an auto junkyard. Butterfly Clamp was made with rust printed silk that was shiboried and then laid over a paper mounted 3/4" board.  It was then encapsulated with encaustic wax giving it a strength due to the resin to withstand higher temperatures.  To keeps it's sheen, an occasional buffing is required.  This piece measures 15" X 15," wire mounted and ready to hang.
