
AJ Floor Lamp
The AJ Floor Lamp, originally designed for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, in 1957, emits a downward directed light. The angle of the shade can be adjusted to optimize light distribution. The shade is painted white on the inside to ensure a soft comfortable light. The timeless design of the lamp ensures that it lends itself to every interior, and over the years the color palettes have been adapted in line with modern interior trends. The AJ collection was designed by Danish designer, Arne Jacobsen. Jacobsen pursued his architecture degree at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. After graduating in 1927, he got his first job working for the City Architect of Copenhagen, and just two years later he opened his own studio. As an architect, Jacobsen had very strong decision-making skills. This resulted in many of his more famous projects being ‘gesamtkunstwerk’, meaning he designed not only the building itself, but also the majority of the interior details, such as lig
