Profumata Musk Strawberry
Fragaria moschata 'Profumata di Tortona' The musk, or hautbois strawberry, is a species of strawberry native to Europe - found growing from Scandanavia, into Eastern Europe and south into Italy. They are cultivated widely in private home gardens as a rugged (and fragrant!) groundcover in both sunny and shady areas. The flavor is rich, sweet and intense - a cross of strawberry, raspberry and pineapple! Both male and female plants are hardy and can survive in both cold winters and hot summers. 1 male plant will pollinize up to 5 female plants. Musk strawberries are cultivated commercially on a small scale, particularly in Italy. Fruits are slightly larger than Capron, and some will produce a small fall crop. Sold in 4" pots.
