Sorbus aucuparia x Craetagus 'Ivan's Belle' An attractive tree from the Ukraine, this unusual cross of Mountain ash and hawthorn was bred by famed Russian plant breeder Ivan Michurin. The self-fertile, 12'-15' tree has glossy compound leaves, showy clusters of white flowers in spring, and produces loads of sweet-tart, ½ inch, wine-red fruit that is prized for making wine, jelly or sauces. High in Vitamins A, C and niacin, it's a fantastic wildlife tree well-suited to hedgerows and mixed borders. Hardy, disease-resistant and self fertile. Prefers cooler summer regions and regularly moist, acid-to-neutral soils. Grafted onto European Mountain ash rootstock. Cold hardy to USDA Zone 3.
