He started as a General (Arminianism) Baptist, but became a Particular (Calvinist) Baptist. This work was a compliment to one of his best known books, Reign of Grace. The laid paper is bright and in good condition with no marks or foxing. Bound in blue paper-covered boards with a shellacked brown paper spine. Most of the spine is gone. The part left has a hand-written title "Legal Hope" in an early hand. The front cover is still tight, but the hinge of the back cover has worn through and is just holding on by the cords. The book is protected in a well made custom slipcase covered by brown marbled paper on the sides, with a sm
