Origin: English    Period: EdwardianProvenance: Formerly in a Department Store, Stoke, UKDate: c.1910Height: 75.5”Width: 52.5”Depth: 17” (all at extremities)The good quality one piece ebonised shop display cabinet being glazed to all three sides, the carcass having a moulded cornice and plinth base, the original brass shop fitting handles opening to two shelves, the back showing the original parchment paper lining, the cupboard base with fielded panels opening to reveal a further shelf, the whole surviving from a department store in the Midlands and from the Edwardian period. The cabinet is in good overall condition with all components being original aside from the shelves, which are later replacements. The surface has the expected signs of wear to the ebonised finish to the extremities, for example to the top, with some light surface marks making for a decorative piece. The cornice has a small section of loss to one corner. She remains sturdy and we have given the piece a light polish
