Chanson Pere & Fils Clos des Marconnets Rouge 2022 750ml
Located on the heights of the hillside at the northern tip of the Beaune territory, the exceptional Clos des Marconnets is one of the most beautiful climats of the famous Burgundy appellation. The Chanson estate owns about 4 hectares representing 40% of the surface of this exceptional climate which takes its name from the Marcomans tribe, a Germanic community settled in the area in the 3rd century AD. Resulting from a rigorous clonal selection, the Pinot Noir vines planted in 1979, 1983 and 1988 are grown on deeper clay-limestone soils at the bottom of the slope. The presence of the limestone bedrock at the top of the plot is the source of the imposing structure of the wine, supported by powerful tannins. If 2019 starts with a mild winter, the spring is marked by temperature variations and a significant rainfall, leading to a lot of millerandage. The scorching summer was punctuated by thunderstorms that saved the vineyard.
