By Richard A. LoedererSome people find this travel book charming, with spectacular woodcuts by the author; however, negative comments run the gamut from "sensationalistic" to "lurid." In addition, the Book Club Edition is often misidentified because it has a stated "First Edition." The books are identical in text and binding, but the "true" First edition will have "Doubleday Doran" as the publisher on the title page. This is the BCE edition printed in 1935.Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket: None. The book boards are orange-clothed, and blindstamped, with a floral design featuring a sailing ship. The titling on the spine is in black and gilt. The book is mildly stained on the covers and spine. There is mild edgewear on the covers. The textblock bottom edge has slight staining, and the pages are tanned throughout.
