Fritz Eichenberg (German/American, 1901-1990) was an artist and illustrator. Fritz Eichenberg was a master of many printmaking techniques that allowed him to multiply his intricate designs. Indeed, Eichenberg studied printmaking at the Academy of Graphic Arts in Leipzig and started work as an illustrator, even as a young man, before fleeing Germany for the U.S. during World War II. He even wrote a book on printmaking called The Art of the Print, Masterpieces, History, Techniques. Provenance: Formerly the estate of artist Fritz Eichenberg, and was recently part of a private collection. Condition: Very Good+. This is a wood engraving, c1893. There is some edge wear around the margin of the sheets. A thin strip of tape runs along the sheet's top edge. The sheet is unframed, loose, and not glued or currently mounted. This engraving has the following inscription in pencil on recto from lower left to lower right in the margin: Last Sunset Artist's Proof Signature Measurements: Sheet: 18x
