Chaetomorpha Algae, commonly known as Chaeto is the most common macro algae used in the reef refugium. As nutrients build-up usually as a result of feeding, the chaeto will uptake these nutrients and increase in mass (grow) pulling and trapping nitrates, phosphates in their cells. The overall mass and high density area can provide a safe haven for zooplankton such as copepods. Optimal conditions for Chaetomorpha: Light: Strong Flow: High Phosphate: 0.01 ppm (minimum) Nitrate: 3 to 5 ppm (range) Seeded with pods
