(Plant Patent 7303 expired) Agapanthus 'Elaine' is a 1990 introduction from California's Archie Amate, that's been a vigorous grower for us in NC. The wide green foliage (evergreen in mild climates) forms a fast-growing 3' tall clump of green strap-like leaves, topped in midsummer with 50" stems of hummingbird-attracting, dark blue-violet (RHS 93A), 8" wide flower heads.
