I would always push folks away from them and towards cheap, good ol' fashion black plastic ones - and with good reason, the wooden ones did more harm than good! The black plastic combs are awesome and with their two size teeth you never risk pulling out those precious whiskers, but, the bigger the beard, the less effective they are. It's true, I learned this first hand this fall as I grew my beard out...and that I have a lot more grey hair than I did the last time I grew my beard out!  The bigger the beard, the deeper the teeth need to be...what to do? After fasting for a week and some serious soul searching I opted to have a comb made and I would attempt a wooden one, but it would need to be done to my specs.
