No title. Dining Romans in Pompeii Pompeii, Pompeji, Pompei The Romans used to eat (dine) laying in bed They called it: cubare (= recline for a meal). The man is drinking wine from a horn. He is accompanied on the recliner by a woman. A servant boy brings possibly a box with sweets. Hand-colored (gouache style) copper etching  (stipple engraving) by Peter S. Lamborn (1722-1774) The print is: Plate nr. XIV (14) Probably London, ca. 1760 Original antique print   Right margin narrow with stitching holes for binding. Image: 22,5 x 19,7 cm (ca. 8.8 x 7.7")
