Lew Thomas: The Thinker

Published by Specialized Graphics, San Fransisco in 1974 Soft cover, 48 pages, black and white  Thomas’ The Thinker is a photographic study of Rodin’s sculpture by the same name. Each spread details a body part of the sculpture paired with the body part’s name, repeating until the sculpture has been circled. The thinker’s serious pose barely masks the wry humor behind the close ups of the bronze cast’s imperfections, the figure’s face repeated page after page from different angles.
