Talk about an eye-catching and appealing specimen! This is a slightly primitive style turtle (or tortoise), carved from pure white Satin Spar (the fibrous gypsum form, which is often incorrectly marketed as Selenite). The turtle is carved to lay beautifully but the focus is not on extreme detail in the face or body, rather on its overall appearance. (There are areas of natural texture, roughness, and asymmetry, all a part of the statue’s natural beauty.) This is a beautiful and collectible small polished mineral specimen, and would make an appealing addition to any mineral buff's or reptile lover’s collection—especially those who love white crystals! Dimensions: contact me Weight: contact me Satin Spar is the fibrous variety of gypsum, an evaporate that forms in ancient river and lakebeds, as well as caves. Some of the largest crystals on the planet are selenite--in the right conditions, they can grow up to 50 feet long. Gypsum is very soft, and semi-elastic (it can be bent without breaking, but will not bend back on its own...and it will break if bent far enough.) *Gypsum is water-soluble--do NOT immerse this specimen in water, or leave in a very humid environment for an extended period of time. Healing: Satin Spar, along with its close relative Selenite, is associated with peace and angelic connection.
