Prehnite Epidote Stilbite Crystal Cluster, Mali—SM2

This fun little guy has a lot of personality! It is a cluster of unpolished, naturally formed botryoidal "bubbles" of the zeolite mineral prehnite. The bubble shape is a result of growing in a botryoidal (globular) mass. The prehnite is a very light lime green shade. In this specimen, deep olive green epidote strikes through the center of the cluster. The prehnite is partially surrounded by soft yellow-cream layers of stilbite! This is an unusual piece, and would make an excellent display or meditation aid! Locality: Mali Dimensions: 2.00” x 1.44” x 1.00” (51mm x 37mm x 26mm) Weight: 51 g (1.8 oz) FORMATION: Prehnite is a complex inosilicate mineral, which forms most frequently in volcanic environments, often growing in association with zeolite minerals. Although orthorhombic, prehnite is most often seen forming variations of the botryoidal (globular) habit. Stilbite is a zeolite mineral that forms "wheat-sheaf" aggregates--flaring clusters which pinch in the middle, resembling bundles of wheat. Epidote is a sorosilicate mineral, which is found in regional and contact metamorphic rocks. It forms in habits including massive, monoclinic prismatic crystals, and lovely crystal fans. HEALING: Prehnite is often associated with dreams--it is also said to enhance deep inner peace and serenity, and to support development of healthy patterns and connections. Stilbite it associated with inner peace and calm. Epidote is believed to help in the acceptance of positive changes, and is believed to help us make correct choices and emulate what we want to receive.
