It is natural citrine (NOT heated amethyst) from Democratic Republic of the Congo. The formation is known in the metaphysical community as “kundalini quartz”—it is smoky citrine with phantoms, in a pineapple quartz formation. There are several cloudy interior phantoms, a hallmark of this formation. This very large cluster features lovely warm smoky-yellow color, with good interior clarity. Most points are complete, and some have partially formed or display some damage at tips, but overall the crystals are in very good condition, especially for such a large specimen and for the area it comes from. Natural citrine is considered far superior to more prevalent heated amethyst, and good specimens are difficult to find. It is found in a multitude of colors, growth habits, and localities. Citrine is the yellow variety of Quartz. The coloring agent is iron. This citrine specimen is natural, though a great deal of commercial citrine has been heat treated. As a member of the quartz group, the hardness of citrine is 7, and it crystallizes in the hexagonal (trigonal) system. HEALING PROPERTIES: Citrine is believed to enhance manifestation, and spark creative inspiration. Often called the "merchant's stone", it is thought to help acquire and maintain wealth. It is said that citrine is one of the world's only self-clearing stones--that it does not need to be energetically cleared.
