*This is a medium specimen—please examine scale photos and consider dimensions carefully!* This is a beautiful and unique specimen! This earthy, structural beauty is Emerald (green Beryl) crystals on matrix, from China. The emerald crystal is semi-translucent when backlit; it is solid green beryl with bright green color, and displays crystal faces. It’s perched on a bed of black tourmaline mini crystals, weathered feldspar, and matrix. The cluster is a flat plate style, which would look beautiful laying flat or upright on a stand. The most unique aspect of this cluster is the beautiful elongated crystals of green emerald against the surface! This small to medium sized cluster has a rough, organic appeal, with any damage left unpolished. A lovely, approachable example of this highly desirable mineral combination—it would make a wonderful addition to specimen collections of any level, and would be a beautiful and unusual jewelry focal! Locality: Dayakou Emerald Mine, Yunan Province, China. Dimensions: 2.88” x 2.00” x 0.75” (73mm x 51mm x 19mm) Weight: 85 g (3.0 oz) FORMATION: Emerald is the green variety of Beryl--a gemstone family that also includes Aquamarine, Morganite, and Bixbite. Emeralds are found in select localities, including Colombia, Brazil, Ethiopia, North Carolina, USA, and others. Emerald forms in the hexagonal system, and forms crystals of varying clarity in prismatic and tabular shapes. It has a hardness of 7.5-8, which allows it to be faceted into beautiful and durable gems. Healing: Emerald has been valued by many cultures worldwide—it is associated with wealth and love, as well as protection and healing. Some of the world’s most famous and valuable gems throughout history have been Emeralds. Check out other crystals and specimens in my Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/PhenomenalGems?ref=si_shop
