Calcite Phantom Scalenohedral Twinning Todorokite Crystal Cluster Miniature Mounted Mineral Specimen Rocks and Minerals Maryland USA
This specimen is a beautiful example of crystal structure! This is a scalenohedral (or stellar beam) calcite crystal cluster. The calcite is a burnished golden yellow shade, and has excellent light reflection. The curved terminations on the crystals are sharp and clean! This particular crystal also features a stunning todorokite phantom growth, and a unique contact twin between two lovely crystals. The cluster is attached to a clear plate, and is ready for display. This miniature mounted specimen is truly unique and striking, and would offer a lot of beauty to any specimen collection. Locality: GenStar Quarry, Medford, Maryland, USA. Dimensions: 1.13" x 1.00" x 1.00" (29mm x 26mm x 26mm) Weight: n/a (mounted) Formation: Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral that forms in a multitude of growth habits. One of these is scalenohedral, or bipyramidal, crystals. Todorokite is a rare, complex manganese oxide mineral. Phantoms are a visible "stop and start" in a crystal's lifespan--it is often delineated by a secondary mineral growth. Healing: Yellow calcite is connected to insight, clarity of perception, and willpower. Phantom growths are believed to help see the bigger picture in life, and to lead to opportunities for growth. *Though many gems and minerals have historical and cultural associations with healing properties, these items are sold for display, study, and collector interest only.
