1855 Wood Engraving Charles Le Brun French Artist Easel Portrait Painter XEC3
This is an original 1855 black and white in-text wood engraving of Charles Le Brun. Labeled by King Louis XIV as being "the greatest French artist of all time", he created many gorgeous paintings which can be found at Versailles and in the Louvre, as well as a large amount of private and commissioned work. He hated painting portraits and landscapes, as he felt that they were a waste of his time. He was, however, brilliant at both.CONDITIONThis 156+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +.
