The popular version of the rainbow flag, also known as the pride flag, consists of six horizontal stripes, their representations include: Red: life Orange:  healing Yellow:  sunlight Green:  nature Blue:  serenity  Violet:  spirit The pride flag was designed by activist and artist Gilbert Baker in 1978. The original flag was pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, indigo and violet.
