Native to India and Pakistan. Critically endangered due to tapping for the gum resin to make the ayurvedic compound known as Guggul. Plants die within 3 years of being tapped. Wild populations are in severe trouble. Despite mortality from tapping, these plants are actually pretty easy to grow. Beautiful peeling bark reveals a bright green trunk. EXACT enormous specimen in 15 gallon pot! Regularly produces fruit with fertile seeds. Shipped bare root, wrapped carefully.  Dormancy: This plant is winter deciduous. If you purchase this plant in the late fall/winter/early spring, it will not have leaves. As it starts to warm up, you can water more frequently to encourage it to start growing new leaves.  Even during spring/summer/early fall, this plant may still drop leaves in transit.
