Many students are entering college with gaps in essential skills, such as time management, study habits and self-monitoring. These gaps can hinder their ability to succeed at college-level work. They have a hard time being self-directed learners, struggling in the less structured collegiate environment. Additionally, they are stating they want connection with their peers, but they don’t always know how to find it. Our presenter will discuss the power of accountability groups in supporting students academically on a larger scale. Hear about how she has successfully used accountability groups to improve students’ goal-setting skills; increase their motivation and productivity; increase their confidence, self-esteem and metacognition; and improve their ability to utilize resources.
